More Questions!!
« on: June 30, 2013, 09:29:42 PM »
I'm curious if anyone knows how much the UB Machine uppers change caster? Is it more, less, or the same as using the offset shafts from Global West or Moog? I dont like the idea of constantly greasing the UB uppers.... If the offset shafts accomplish the same thing, I could run Global West del-alum, and maybe box the stock uppers for strength, and have a no, to low maintenance set up. If I'm wrong feel free to pick me apart!

Doing some digging I'm reading that the UB Machine arms add around 2-3* caster, but there is no hard info posted around here.  dusterbd13 was in on the design of these arms from the beginning, so he would know best, but isn't around much anymore.

From my understanding the offset shafts won't change caster.  They also don't change control arm length.  They just allow for more negative camber with less shims.  Caster can also be changed with shims.  Most guys run about 5* caster whether they have the UB arms or not.  The UB arms can achieve the same caster setting with less shims similar to how the offset shafts can achieve negative camber with less shims.

The offset shafts will move you in the right direction, but the tall Ball Joint or tall spindle conversion is really designed to work with a shorter upper arm.

I see the Speed way arms are cheap... And available in 8" and 8 1/2". Are those shorter than stock? Are they comparable to the UB's designed specifically for our application? What about McGaughy spindles, anyone have any experience with those? A lot cheaper than belltechs....
