Will Tall Lower Ball-Joints with 3" drop coils help?
« on: December 02, 2009, 08:39:19 PM »
My 2000 4dr 2wd Blazer with 3" drop coils needs new lower ball-joints. Will taller lower BJ help me or will it just cause more stress on the BJ's? I guess Howe makes tall LBJ that fit? Any body else make them that fit the stock LCA? Those Howe's seem expensive. Any one have a part# for taller LBJ's? Or should I just get regular BJ from Power-performance?

Sorry for all the questions. Seems the more a read on the topic the more I get confused...:P

the whole point of tall lower ball joints is to help with bumpsteer, correct some geometry issues, and to help in the negative camber gain of the sustpension. with three inch coils, you dont have enough suspension travel to encounter much bumpsteer, and are already into negative camber gain territory due to the control arm angles.

so, yes, the tall lower ball joint will help.
will it be noticible: probably not.
is it worth it? your call.

PP is producing tall lowers at about 60-75 days out, mine are already on order.

i will tell you that with teh 3 inch coild, my tall upper ball joint and UB machine UCA's were very good handling and predictable. worked well.

Thx for the reply. The UCA set up you, Eric and Tyson got would be awesome....for my Jimmy. :) Since this is for my 4dr Blazer that is just for cruising and needs new LBJ since there bad, I just wanna replace the bad with something that will be an improvement. So if you guys say they'll help, then I think they're worth it. As long as the price is right. I might be able to hold out for the PP, if not I read QA1 has them for about $50 each. I would pay that. I don't think I can swallow the $80 or what not for the Howe's. At least not for something that's just meant to get groceries and drop my son off at pre-K.

For a daily I would say stock replacements. If Pam is driving the truck daily I wouldn't recommend fucking with the handling characteristics much.

Your tuck...do it now.
