Hey, just found this forum. I guess I'm a little late. Anyway, I've been thinkig about the rear set-up, and one of the problems with these S-10's is how narrow the frame is in the rear. Whenever you go to put a coil spring on it, you can't really push them outwards very much. I got to thinking about building a spring pocket on the rear half of the frame, so that you could push them all the way to the outside of the frame. It should add another 4" to the width between the springs. I think I'm going to do it on mine. What do you think?

I was thinking about this also. On my truck to fit everything the coilovers have to go in front of the axle but if I did something like what your talking about the could go behind the axle.

You mean like a lever set-up? That would work if you had the space.

real quick sketch, but by using a rod instead of trying to shove the whole shock/bag/coil etc outwards, a thin rod can transfer the force closer to the tire.
depending on tire/frame clearance, you might be able to sqeeze it outside the frame rails, or if not, a hole (slot) through the rails or angling the rod inwards, depnding on how axle/frame clearance looks, migth be plausible?

Yes, they were from a Mustang.

Those harness are going to be taken out before I drive it next. They work great, but are always in the way when you're not wearing them. I remember driving a 92 Vette where it had a "cinch" button on the seatbelt to where it would lock the seatbelt in place. I'd like to find something like that for the stock belts in the truck.

That looks like the Roadmaster Active Suspension setup, right? I was planning on putting that on my truck with a set of sliders instead of shackles. What kind of clearance is there from the center of the spring eye to the top of the RAS bracket?

i can imagine, but having something like that at the track would be nice. the stock seatbelts do very little

Yes, it's the RAS setup. I don't know the measurement right off hand, but I can measure tomorrow. I'm planning on selling those, so get in touch with me before you buy them.

I'm going to do a triangulated 4-link, probably a satchell.

It was tough to get a good measurement, but the bracket is 1/4" steel that is bent around the end of the leafspring eye. It was about 1.5" from the center of the eye to the top of the bracket. The shackles that they give you measure 4.25" from the centerlines of the bolts.

Thanks for the measurements. I guess the longer shackles raise your ride height a little bit then, huh? I'll have to get my hands on a set of sliders to measure for clearance. Since the end of the spring travels in a line instead of swinging on a shackle, I should be OK as long as I can fit it in there.

The satchell link is an awesome suspension if you do it right. I think most people tend to steer clear because of packaging issues. I'm looking forward to seeing how you make it work.
