Projekt “Turns on a Dime!!!”
« on: September 08, 2009, 10:54:20 PM »
Here she isÂ…the great deal I got on a 1992 S10 Blazer 2WD a couple weeks ago(I know all the die hards are gonna point out the S15 grilleÂ…Yeah, its been hit at least once and fixed with junk yard parts).   4.3, 4 spd auto, power everything and a 2-door.

Immediate plans include fixing all the easy shit that somehow the rest of civilization neglectsÂ…rear window wonÂ’t close from EXCESSIVLY worn latch and missing bolt, R/F window in-op from bad motor, hood rattles from missing hood adjuster, etcÂ… all easy fixes with minimal cash outlay.  I also found a leaky water pump and it now has "Gross Polluter" status in CA since the high speed Nox doubled the limit.

I already ordered a set of Boss 338 in 18X8 and 18X9.5 to be wrapped in Yoko 245/40 and 265/35 rubber.  I need Marcus to answer my PM so I can get an AFX spindle package on the way and of course I will freshen up the entire under-carriage during that install.  A set of 850# 5.5X9.5 Tru-Coils are in the garage to be set with hidden adjusters.  In the rear, 3” drop leafs and blocks will start process, maybe something a little more hi-tech in the future.

I already started my homework on a LS1/TKO swap to be worked out in the near future.

I think it will make for a nice grocery getter, throw on some paint and window tint and beat the hell out of it.

Sounds like you have a plan.
Looks like it's in nice shape. All the first gens around here seem beat to death and rotted out.

Yeah, it's in really good shape as far as the sheetmetal and interior go.  I just figured out the other day that someone swapped seats...the passenger seat doesn't fold up out of the way, so there is no way to climb in the back seat.  I will have to go junkyard hunting for a factory seat at some point.

Eric, where did you get your sig line?  Not so long ago that line was drilled into my head.

Found the sig on Corner-Carvers and thought it was funny in a screwed up way.

I hope you have better luck getting those spindles then a guy I know on another board. He had to wait something like 11 months but part of that time was when they (ATS) were closing so maybe that was a factor.

When you do the coil adjuster can you do a walk through on the install? They have crossed my mind to save some $ over coilovers but it seems there is different ideas on how to install them. It would be nice to see an install especially on the same front end.

Absolutely.  I came up with the idea about 5 years ago on my last project and since then I know at least a dozen fellow board members over at PT.com that are using them.  They are great.

I know Tyler was having some supplier issues for awhile, but I am VERY educated on the spindle design, I even tried coming up with my own design about the time he was designing his.  Mine worked but was heavier and more expensive than his.  The ATS spindle is worth waiting whatever wait time there is.

You're over at CC.com too huh?

Just browse CC, I don't think I could take some of the attitudes. The tech on that site is amazing though.
