also, would it be a bad idea to run my oil pressure line for my gauge through the harness loom? My only concern is the hot oil melting wires but I don't believe the line gets very hot...
I've also decided to use my spare transmission cooler as a power steering cooler.
Would putting it on the return line be enough pressure to circulate? Does power steering fluid actually get hot? I'd imagine so, especially on a road course..

The optional factory power steering cooler is on the return side of the circuit if that makes you more comfortable with your decision.
I would expect a mechanical oil pressure gauge to be close to the engine temperature where you have it screwed into the engine. Do you still have the stock gauges in your dash? Can you install your stock oil pressure sender on this new engine?

Yeah I have it and could use it but I'm so used to looking at a mechanical since my blazer wasn't working haha

installed driver side suspension and brakes, ran line lock wiring into cab, cleaned and painted inner fender (ran out of paint), installed fender, mounted MSD box, mounted rad support, ran power steering lines with cooler, just some little stuff.
ugly routing but don't have much of a choice...

battery and tray in, coolant overflow in, rad got rubber mounts to prevent wear-through from steel on steel, just need to make a hold-down plate for the rad.
stuck the front end on in hopes of some motivation... it didn't work.
hoping to get more down next couple days then spend all weekend on it with a few friends hopefully getting it running

got the steering shaft in, which rubs the header a bit. either going with a jeep shaft or pull out the header and dent it in for clearance.
also moved the motor ahead 1/2" and gained the needed clearance to install passanger header.
need to pick up wheel cylinders which are the confirmed cause of not getting fluid to the rear bleeders. I got fluid at the axle side of the flex hose so it's either the cylinders or the rear lines.
wiring got pretty messy but I'm getting impatient and there's really no easy way to run 4ga wiring neatly when it goes 4 different directions. battery is wired in, alternator is wired in, only wiring left is coil ground, and ignition hot to a few things such as e-fan controller, alternator and electric choke, then wiring will be COMPLETE. really wasn't that hard once I wrapped my head around some things. also wired up my voltmeter, gauge pod backlights as well as line lock and 2-step to a push button switch pictured earlier.
last night when we wired the battery we were scratching out heads wondering why the signals and brake lights worked but had no headlights... pulled the headlight switch tonight to realize I never connected it since I was going to need to pull that panel to wire line lock anyway! so all lights work again, including interior.
here's a re-post of what happened to the door latch post over time from a saggy door pin (already replaced) causing the latch to beat on the post. it made a clicking noise when I pushed on it before so I pulled the post to see whats up and it fell apart in my hand like so:
welded in the piece again tonight, just used a bunch of tack welds like I did with my firewall on the project blazer. worked great, and I can tell it's way stronger already since I welded all the stress cracks and made it one piece again.
there was a small piece that went missing as shown above, so I held a piece of hardwood behind it and started making more tack welds to fill the void. worked great, relatively flat on the back too.
smoothed it out with an 80 grit flap disk IIRC
and slapped it with a coat of filler primer to try and even out the grinder marks. would of done a coat of bondo but it's a door jamb and I don't have the time. getting kicked out of the shop next weekend basically.
really hoping to find a shade of red that matches it.

Skipped a few updates as I don't have my computer, but...
IT RUNS! I accidentally cut out the fuel pump relay so I'm going to re wire it and it should be running steady tomorrow instead of on slurps of fuel from a water bottle aha

runs fuckin great. Here's most of what I missed due to being away from my computer for a bit.
finished door pin repair. Not the greatest job but I'm learning! didn't use any filler, didn't care. It'll get fixed when it gets painted.
momo wheel from my blazer, feels nice.
needed to do wheel cylinders since the rear wouldn't bleed, fixed the problem.
got a little more organized and hammered out progress.
set her down, she went back up after though.
$180 for the pair.
front clip panel alignment, still need to add a few bolts we missed due to rushing
advanced technology pushrods
OUT!
undecided on the air dam, if I keep it i'll be hooking up fog lights. videos on facebook

I like the air dam, cleans up the nose a bit, and is a great place for brake cooling ducts!

Zach, if you want to go the cooling duct route, I've got half a kit for an 80's Corvette sitting here. Has the tubing, the hardware, and the Corvette bumper inserts that could be trimmed down to match your air dam.

That's actually where I got the idea, your ad haha. Maybe down the road.
Here's a video before it came out of the shop.

PM me a rough price, i'm short on cash haha
Drove it to work thismorning, soooo many looks from people hahahaha. An old lady was staring me down hard at a light, looking at the ground clearance and rolled up her window.
This was the best feeling in a long time. 300hp and the open road. Didn't give'r but can't wait til I can...
Dropped the truck off at Autopsy Customs, great bunch of guys I deal with through work. Magic, one of the mechanics, owns the 86? Jimmy in the back, super super clean.
true 2.5" duals, cats, flowmaster 50's, dumped at the rear axle. starting tomorrow.

exhaust is done. gave it a bath and about 60k of driving. it's quick
carb isn't tuned so it runs a bit weird, rough tuning it in a few hours with my buddy. had problems flooding it last night on start up, not used to carb haha. air filter was filthy, gave it a good recharge
put the rest of my interior back in for now, still need to wire up the rear speakers and put the second one in.
so happy with it so far!

been driving it since friday, love it. Need to get it tuned, runs a little rough (carb isn't adjusted correctly)
clutch should be about broken in, need to do an oil change in a couple hundred k, should I run break-in additive again? I've been using 10w30.
Once I get some more mileage on her and get it running prime i'll be hitting the track, hopefully with Andrew. Can't wait to chase another s10 around!
