Here's the best picture I have of the wheel swap, for now. Professional photos pending editing/posting. MSD box got wet, wouldn't run proper. It's drying now, hope it's still good.

Meh.  Just pull the dash.  It isn't hard, but everyone seems to be intimidated.  The harness mostly goes behind the fuse block to the firewall pass through connector, so disconnect that underhood and unbolt it before starting.  The heater cable can be disconnected through the glove box IIRC.  Other than that remove the lower trim, unplug the ECM, drop the steering column,  unbolt the 3 10mm bolts under the dash, should be ~4 7mm screws across the top in the defrost openings, and that should do you beyond a few misc stray wires and the vent hoses.

What did you end up doing to replace the MSD?

I did it without pulling the dash in my blazer, with TBI. Don't do it. Trust me, just don't. I almost ruined my new heater core and it took all damn day. You can get away with only pulling the passenger side of the dash out a couple inches and it will make life much much much much much much much much much much easier.

I did that a couple years ago and didn't pull the dash. It is an early '82-'85 dash though. I'm really not sure what kind of access the later gen dash's have. It was much easier then pulling the dash. I took off all of the dash trim and passenger kick panel and it was a simple as heating up the joints and pulling it out. A little tight but not bad at all really.

Long time no see! Computer has been down, finally got a new harddrive and everything formatted again.

Truck has been running great aside from losing lots of oil (leaks and burns). Still running the HEI but i had my 6AL-2 replaced under warranty for freeeeeee. Just too lazy to re-install. Maybe this weekend?

Here are some pics to keep you fellas happy.

Went to CSCS at Grand Bend Motorplex with my buddy who was drifting his 240sx, such a fun day. Here's his son helping me load up tires at the end of the day!

It's been running like poop lately, and the exhaust I had "professionally" done for $1200 continues to fuck up on me. They've been great about fixing it for free, but seriously guys? Why should it have to come back?

I know it's probably a miss causing the issue, either #6 or #8 boot is covered in carbon. Header gasket, maybe? I have Accell wire with ceramic boots to avoid melting them against the header.

I really need to pull the bay apart again and fix everything, but I can't seem to find the time or motivation lately, nevermind a place to do it. Parents are being anal about me using the garage or something...

Well, I pulled a classic "dumbass punk teenager" the other night...

I was drifting in an industrial area, enjoying the truck after I got it back from exhaust for hopefully the last time. My buddy was following in his stock blazer, just to watch sorta. He took off early to head home, at the same time I dropped my passanger off to rock a piss. I get a text saying "Pick me up, COPS!". So I picked him up real quick and started to head home. On the way out, a cargo van passed us going the other way then illegally turned around in a driveway to follow me. I got onto the highway in hopes of losing them as I wasn't sure if they were behind me yet. See the van get onto the highway, so I speed up a bit like a complete dumbass thinking "They don't have my plate yet..."

That's where I made the WRONG decision. I kept going thinking I was clear. Got up to about 3grand in 5th, which is approx 170km/h.  Once I'm about 1.5km away from the van, doing approx 170km/h, I see lights. Fuck. Bad idea. Pulled over instead of taking off like a douchebag, cop said he was doing 150km/h and I was pulling away from him... Busted. Guy acted like a dick but I don't blame him. Ended up giving me a break, and a ticket for 115km/h in a 90km/h zone... $120 and 3 points.

This is what finalized my decision to take this truck off the road and just drive my black ext cab for now. I'm too irresponsible behind the wheel of such a vehicle. I put some brand new 215/75r14 tires that I got from a friend for free on stock wheels.

First burnout was about 100ft long, soooooo sick. Second was probably 150-175ft, so much smoke and so much sliding around. I'll get pictures of the road tonight, and possibly another set of tires haha.

Oh, and I put the soft cover from my ext cab on the red truck. I love it.

Anyway, while this truck is parked I'll be taking er easy and working a bunch. I'm currently working full time at a small shitty run garage, and working part-time at Autopsy Custom & Repair, the place that did my exhaust.

It's a 6 bay shop with guys who know whats up (aside from exhaust, haha) It would be a great learning experience and definitely a foot in the door.

Once I save up some cash, I'll be redoing the suspension on this truck.

-Suicide Doors triangulated 4link

-QA1 adjustable coilovers, undecided on spring rate, travel, etc.

-Air Ride Technologies tubular LCA with tall balljoints (LBJ not pictured)

-UB Machine UCA with tall balljoints (pic stolen from rentedmule)

-QA1 dual adjustable coilovers for s10 (pic is of single adjustable)

anyway, just wanted to update and let you guys all know I haven't rolled it. Currently hunting for shop space to rent with some friends, which will guarantee progress. Not necessarily parts, but progress. I'm pulling the motor, fixing all the leaks, replacing the tranny, and inspecting the clutch. 4th gear syncro's are completely gone and 3rd is going. Also, I get a chatter/bearing noise once in a while when I have the clutch disengaged. Thinking it's the weights on my centreforce clutch. I believe I can remove the weights and still have a grabby clutch, just "not as much holding pressure" at higher RPM's which is what the weights are for.

Too bad about the ticket but like you said, it could have been worse!  Looking forward to updates on the progress with this build, the truck is sick.

Well, it's been a while since I've updated here... Lets start with these two

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dRxsmLVLDOU

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WNjajbo18Pc&feature=plcp

Alright, time to catch up. I rented a shop with some friends, it's 25x60 with a 25x20 mezzanine. So awesome.
Second day-

One truck-

Two truck-

Three car-

Four! -

Datsun will have it's own thread soon, Red truck will be updated momentarily, ZR2 is my buddy's that needs a tranny, RX7 is my buddy's who rents with me.

Before I show you what the shop looks like now, gotta explain how we got there.

Our mez is built for 200lbs/sq foot. Yeah, that's strong. Our landlord is a landscaper, and owns a forklift. Yeah, he's awesome.

There's a lot going on in this picture.. My buddy Rob is welding up a GT snowracer with BMX front end, the red truck has no front end, there's a goddamn Datsun UPSTAIRS as a TV stand, and yeah...

What's haggard life? Check it out! www.haggardlife.com It's basically the blog that the four of us "started" to post random things and car stuff.

Once the red truck was up on stands, no time was wasted.

Haven't gone much further with it, front suspension is out except for LCA's. Not very motivated right now since I've been working on my winter beater lately. I did good?
