havnt got much done. i decided to use my original 700 lbs springs instead of the 580lb? zq8s, so i cleaned and painted those, my brakes are ready to install on the front, but im debating a 13" rotor now. got wheels today so i figured thats worth an update.

ups just dropped them off! charcoal gray, i couldnt decide between these and flat black, so i made the wife choose.

^ x2 on what he said!  I like wheels with a thin spoke like that.
03 Sonoma ECSB, 4.3 auto, bolt-ons, xtreme80 tune, ZQ8 steering box, QA1 coilovers and rear shocks, UB Machine UCAs, Spohn LCAs, tall balljoints, ZO6 wheels, race seats.

thanks guys. yea i hate thick spokes too, or just about any wheel without lots of "space" in it.

i got a little done.

the spindles are all modified, i put the heavier springs back in, new timken bearings and seals in new cut up rotors, and got it all bolted back together. i made new caliper brackets since i changed my mnid on brakes for the 3rd time. c5 rotors and ls1 calipers.

c5 rotors and my spacer adapter

loctite and spacers for the abutment

clearance

hybrid brakes!

so the wheel hits the caliper :( i added some 4mm spacers and it just clears, but the tie rod hits the wheel really bad.
i had a 1/2x1/2 rod end lying around to test fit. a 5/8" high misalignment end is only 1/8" larger on the radius so it should clear seeing how this one has about 1/4" and the wheel is going to move out another 1/16" or so when i get proper spacers. it also has the exact right height at 0.625 from center of pivot to mounting face of the spindle which gives me about 0.100" less bump as the factory end is about 0.725".

http://www.summitracing.com/parts/hal-pcymr8-10t

tires are going to rub at full lock, that line will need to be reloacted, thats why i havnt made a bracket for it yet, but everything clears the lower arm.

got the rearend cover painted and reinstalled.. finally

nice progress!  On my truck I never had problems with the rubbing the backside of the frame.  My truck always rubbed on the swaybar and front of the frame.

I was thinking the same thing when I installed the wheels on my Blazer without the tires.  I have yet to touch the brake line in the real world.

then ill go ahead and wait until tires to see if i have to mess with that line, thanks for the info. i ordered a 5/8" heim today just to double check clearances, if that works ill order the other 3 and some swaged rod tubing from speedway. all said and done should be less that $100.

if you aren't rubbing tire there, your tires aren't wide enough ::)
relocate the line so you can fit a fatter tire!

rod end came in today and its close but its going to work! the pictures make it look closer than it is, but it has about 1/8" clearance when the gap is at its smallest. i may chuck the spindle up on the mill and mill the 5/8 hole offset in the taper, if that makes sense. that will give me another few hairs of clearance, maybe a 1/16", and should affect bump negligibly.

and i thought i might have to relieve the backside of the spindle steering arm to clear the heim, but it worked out jut right.

moving the hole would cause a difference in ackermann, but i doubt it's significant.

Haven't heard anything from you in a while Sean. Been enjoying the weather too much to work on your truck lately?

well yes, that, and the miata has been taking my money. then someone went and added a "-" to protourings10.com so i though the site was down again until i was searching something and clicked a link to pro-tourings10 and went oh! cool!
i am in the process of collecting parts to turbo the miata. just bought a mega squirt, injectors, etc. and a real seat, and a 5pt. i just dropped $1500 of suspension in it no too long ago
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ssAFot-ecx0
just did this track again last weekend and i bested my time by 1.5 seconds. woot!

i got a good tax return though so....

got my tires
bfg sprt comp2 in 245/45 and 275/40  on 17s
fronts

rears

got my tie rods. theyre super light

got some braided brake lines and a few other things to get it on wheels and tires on it again and get the hydraulic side of the brakes done.

return those 245s now!
we know we can fit 275/40/17s all around without issue on these things!

but miata is the correct answer...

The problem with 275s sometimes is having wheel wide enough for them.
