man, I've never heard of an 8 degree shim.  I probably would have lowered the trans/transfer case. lol

Harley and i talked about this, and i decided that was way too much work. 8 degree shims worked out quite well, with very little work.

yea... because that's easier than just loosening 8 nuts, 2 bolts, and then sliding in 2 shims and retightening everything

been doing some reading on the bravada shaft upgrade.
basically replaces the 2 piece pass side axle with the stronger 1pc one found on awd s-series and astros.
that will definitely be on the list of things to look for in the junkyard next summer.

so far been taking the blazer to do small things like shopping and such... getting more comfortable with it, but definitely need to fix the floppy shifter and the loose steering.

sadly been too cold to be motivated to figure out the actual steering issue.

well, didnt like the long throw of the stock shifter, so i decided to make a short throw shifter, while completely maintaining stock appearance.

concept is real easy. cut up the stock shift arm, extend the distance between the pivot and the ball (i extended 2") and then make a 2" 'spacer' to lift the stock shifter housing upwards.

according to my quick rough math, adding 2" is about a 50% reduction in throw from stock.

as an added plus, the stock shifter's centering springs are 3 deflective disks. you can easily adjust the force required to move the stick laterally by adding or reducing the number of disks.

I added a 2.25" section after cutting, because 1, the cutoff tool has a thickness, and 2, i used some length in order to have a dowel in the center to press-fit the sections together before welding.

thanks, but this anyone can do with some time with basic tools too (okay, alot of time if you dont have a mill) but still doable.

i dunno if anyone else with the stock spare location on the 2dr blazers have been bugged about this, but i hated the visibility with it.
I like being able to see all around, and even going from a p/u to a suv was a big change, with the tinted rear windows, it was bad, and with the spare tire in the center of the rear window, it was unbearable for me.

so, i moved the spare.
down and over to the side, and along with that i mounted it with a bolt-on spare front hub. so it's a spare hub along for the ride all the time, AND it spins!

does it block the tag?  I don't think the police would like that very much.

it doesnt really, but depending on the angle, it might.
I plan on making a new rear bumper for the truck at some point, at which ill relocate the plate further left.

so far noone has complained yet.

Just tell the cop you bought the truck like that and then show him it's cool because it spins, play stupid haha

Finally someone with a good 3.8L install thread! Thanks, been thinking about this swap for a DD pickup once I take my blazer beyond ability to DD.

Cool!  I did a winter rally-X event in the truck last weekend and got absolutely slaughtered.  I achieved my one goal of not getting stuck but that's about where my success ended.  Yours looks much more capable in the snow!

and then here is the low beam (with relay mod) only vs LED bar only.
pictures actually dont do it justice, not sure if LED light isnt handled well with a camera, kinda like florescent?
either way, pretty impressed.

There isn't a huge appearance change without the stock roof rack, but it certainly looks less cluttered and more integrated.  Also beefier.  I really like it.
