Bump stops
« on: May 23, 2013, 09:48:23 PM »
What is everyone running for bump stops on the front? Heights? And what is the ideal amount of travel to have before the frame touches the bump stops? The reason I ask is originally my truck was sitting on the stock bump stops so I cut about a half inch off them. It rode much better but still didn't have much travel. I cut a little more off but the tires kept hitting the inner fenders on bumps.

Well, with the ZQ8 coils and the spindles, you're actually at about 3.5" of drop, depending on tire size, that's probably the main reason for the rub.

this is what I run, they are the ZQ8 bumpstops.

I have 3" drop coils so I had to trim them a little.  basically the truck rides on the stops, but they are soft and progressive so there isn't a harsh bump when you hit them.

I have 3" coils and poly bumpstops in stock location. There's about .5" between bumpstop and frame at ride height. At bump, if the crossmember doesn't hit the ground, it rides awesome. I could likely cut them a little but don't want to sacrifice anti-ground-smash protection
