I'm currently running 8-way power leather seats from a crew cab so even at 64 lbs combined they'll still cut 60 lbs or so out of the cab.  Are you running the brackets that came with your plastic seats or did you bolt stock brackets to them?

aha i see,

plastic seats didnt come with brackets. made somewhat adjustable ones out of aluminum, and bolted them to the lower part of the stock brackets (removed the sliders)

They're a lot more comfy than I expected too.

I have a plastic racing seat in my living room and it's quite a bit more comfortable than I expected too, though it lacks lumbar support quite badly.

For the moment my truck is going in more of a protouring direction instead of a full on race vehicle so I'm not going to strip it down too much. I'm ditching the jump seat to save another few pounds as well since it rarely gets used.  I don't have a garage or even a paved driveway anymore so the winter projects are pretty limited  . 

EW, I bet. We're just teasing you about the rest of it. You can bet on one thing for sure, most of us would probably rather drive your truck as a DD than Ryos. That count for a lot on a site called protourings10, not races10.

I got the seats used but Yonaka's are pretty popular and easy to find online.  I don't think the versions I have are made any more but the other models they have look pretty good too.  Some of the sponsors on corvetteforum have really good deals on them.

I don't have a part # for the UCAs - I just called UB machine and told them what I wanted.  A few guys have ordered them lately so they should know what you're talking about if you tell them you want the s10 UCAs for tall balljoints.   

Just make sure they know what plate to use, the C10 plate is different from the metric plate. You can get either plate technically, and still use the C10 stud, you just have to get the right ball joint to match.

I have Howe uppers so I ordered mine with a standard metric mounting plate.

Going well but I'm redonkulously busy with work right now so I haven't had a chance to do anything to the truck lately.

The Howe's are still good as far as I can tell.  I'm still daily driving it but this is what the weather looks like now so there's not much hard cornering happening!



I picked up a wideband O2 sensor, hopefully as part of a future turbo project.  I'm still hunting for a set of manual seat tracks to mount the new seats but without a garage I'm not really in a rush to get at that - also my current seats are heated (see above pic)

I'm starting to consider brake upgrade options now too but I think first on the list is a proper LSD.  I think I'd be more competitive in overall raw auto-X times if I could predictably put the power down coming out of the turns.

How's your truck doing?  Are you still considering selling it or are you going to run it for a while?

Picked up a set of QA1 stocker stars off the pro-touring.com classifieds for the rear.  Still need to get the t-bar kit for them.


Also got an MSD box a while ago to try to smooth out my idle a bit


I also had an awesome deal fall in my lap for a new set of single-adjustable QA1 coil-overs for the front so it looks like I'll be getting those as well.  I plan on pulling a leaf to soften the rear up a bit so hopefully the coil-overs will let me fine tune the front to get things level.

What are people's opinions on running 550 lb springs?  Will they be too stiff or a good choice for auto-X?  I know the ZQ8 coils are ~700 lb but it seems like a lot of people run 450 lb springs on coil-overs.

550lbs will work well for an iron headed SBC, an aluminum headed spc or a 4.3 and I would probably go for the 450s, especially on a DD.

Then again, we have differing views of DD status, cause mine is stripped to the gills so I want soft springs and heavy bars.

I have a set of slightly used 550lb-in QA1 coilover springs.   Make me an offer if you want them.

I'm pretty sure that the ones I'm buying come with the 550 lb springs - the seller is going to check and get back to me.  Maybe I'll try those out and if they're horrendously stiff I'll swap to the 450 lb versions. 

The truck is technically a daily driver but it only moves 1.5 miles a day.  I do drive it most days but I think it's been 5 weeks since I filled it up last. We use the GF's car for longer trips when we actually want to be comfortable!
