Pretty. How did you get it so clean?

You should have seen it before, I used pretty much an entire can of carb and choke cleaner on it, then I polished the inside up with my dremil tool and painted the outside silver metallic.

I'm curious about the Blazer brakes upgrade and the Goodridge SS brake lines.  How much of an improvement was that?  I'm exited because I actually have that same stuff sitting in my garage, but I'm waiting on some ball joints and control arm bushings to do the whole thing at once.

I <3 my dp blazer brakes.  Really one of my favorite things I've done to the truck so far.  Only complaint is the price of the blazer hubs if you have to get new ones.

Since you are ordering new balljoints, you should pick up some tall ball joints from powerperformance.  I would have when I did my brakes but they didn't offer them at the time.

Also keep in mind the cost of drop spindles, $140 for original S10\G-body spindles, $375 for blazer spindles. I love the blazer brake upgrade and would do it in a heartbeat, except that I'm going to need the drop spindles.

no data to back me up but the blazer spindle looks to be stiffer and have less toe/camber compliance than the truck spindle.
my blazer is cooler than your s10

Do you want part drawings of both to back it up?  I'm easily distracted right now, so wouldn't take much to get me shuffling through part drawings.

I'm also a huge fan of my dual piston upgrade.  Did it on my 1st gen long bed using mostly parts I had laying around.  Only thing left is to switch to the Blazer soft lines, but I'm waiting until I have another beater before messing with brake lines again.  I don't suggest this, but they make it more comfortable to tailgate people who think I'm just a slow truck and get in my way.....

actually yes please, and if you can find c5/6 uprights to compare to as well I can do a quickstudy on that too.

Nice!  Thanks for the feedback.  I just ordered a set of Power Performance regular ball joints.  I'm gonna go with the tall ball joints and tubular UCAs someday, but for now, just getting the handling feeling secure again is what I need.  After 268,000 miles, things get a little sloppy.

I'm trying to find that balance of making it feel safe quickly and not wanting to do things twice, so I know where you're at right now, it's a bit annoying to me actually. I need a winning lottery ticket.

Hah!  Yeah, me too!  If that happens, I got a looooong list of mods! :)

Yeah, stage 1 would have to be buying a different car for my DD, so the blazer can be out of comission for longer than 3 days at once, then I would cut and strip it down to a body without a floor, glass, roof or front clip, and do it right.

Got to hit the auto-x today for the first time in over a year.  The local SCCA region has been having a hard time securing events and getting people to run them down here.

Anyways, here are some pics:  (taken by my good friend Kirt)

Fastest Time of Day was a 39.xxx, done by a fully setup CRX on race tires.  My best time was a 42.9xx.  I was only about .5-1.0 sec off of STS prepared Miatas.  It really made me feel good and surprised the hell out of the other drivers.

As for setup:

I ran my old ZQ8 wheels with 245/50r16 Hankook Ventus tires (360 treadwear rating).  I had the rears at 44psi and the fronts at 40psi at the start of the event.  After a run or two, I could tell the fronts were too high because of chattering.  I dropped them down to about 35psi before I went out and ran my best time.  I left the rears alone and the pressure pumped up to 50 psi by the end of the event.

The truck ran good, but the roll up front and the bottoming out really got old.  I'd like to get a set of stiffer front springs and adj shocks someday.

All in all it was a great day and I was glad to get out and attack the cones for the first time in a long time.

More rollbar will help as well. The 700lb springs that came stock in most of these trucks is pretty hefty, and if you're going to drive it on the street, much more will get rough pretty quickly.

Race action, sweet!  Were you having traction problems with the rear tires pumped up that much?  I drop mine back to 30 psi and it helps with corner exits.  I've tried as low as 25 at the last few events - it hooked really well but it squirmed a bit and made it harder to control when the back end started to slide.

i believe he has a tutu so traction issues are probably minimal lol

looks like fun, cant wait to be able to run events again.

Yeah, I don't know what rate the drop springs I have are, I wish I did so I could have something to go by.  I do have my stock springs still though...could do a little cold cutting on them.

and yeah, 2.2 = no traction problems at all.  lol
