front suspension suggestions
« on: December 23, 2009, 09:50:48 PM »
ok so bbcc from s10 forum has been helping me along with off camber on this topic. i'll update the rest of u guys what im working with and what im aiming at.

first off i dont have any experience in performance suspensions and only a basic knowledge of terms.

ok so i own a 87 chevy s10 reg cab reg box with a 2.5L engine no mods. i dont have power steering or a brake booster. my truck is lowered around 5/6ish and will be bodydropping it sooner or later. my intentions are to use it in autoslalom which is our event in canada.

right now my front end only has 2" drop spindles with 3" drop coils. bbcc and off camber has been very informative on what i should be looking for.

so far i think i will go with the ultra-lite lightweight sc&c uppers. debating whether just to do tall upper and lower ball joints or get the package from sc&c that has the adj uca and teh tall spindle package. i think i'll need to get the zq8 sway bar for now. what else should i need for the front suspension just to start off.

budget lets say is $2000. if i go simply with tall ball joints i would save more money and could upgrade maybe the braking.

On a budget of $2000, I'd do this...

- Tall upper ball joint in a SPC upper contol arm
- Tall lower ball joint in a stock lower control arm with a bushing upgrade.
- Keep your 2" drop spindle
- Do a C5 brake conversion
- Get a pair of single adjustable shocks
- ZQ8 swaybar
- Check over any other steering components for wear, replace if necessary
- Any left over money put towards tires

You could also use UB Machine UCA's and C10 upper ball joints to save a little money.

If you want look into tall spindles check out L&H.

There is another company that has been making tall spindles for awhile but their customer service isn't the best and they take forever to ship parts so I won't mention them...lol
