I jinxed myself, said I couldn't find any ZQ8 springs till I Said I couldn't find them, and got a call from a yard in Tucson that got a 2001 with 40K miles in that had the complete ZQ8 suspension in it. :)

Yeah that was quick.

Your mention of Tucson just reminded me that I will be in Yuma at the beginning of May for a week.

What are you doing all the way down there?

Suprisingly not for work.  I'll be visiting a friend and enjoying some vacation time.  Probably work some on his truck and explore the area.

It's getting warm here already, and yuma is going to be worse. You'll certainly defrost quickly.

His words: "May is hot, June is Hell"  8)

I'm up for either, but only because I don't typically care about temperature.

Brackets are quarter plate that's been plasma cut. I'm in AZ,  work out of mesa gateway, live down in San tan valley.

I take that back, brackets are 3/8" plate, and I'm right about 1/4" off. I think I'm going to just order some 1/4" spacers with a 6" OD to put behind the rotor, and drill through the rotor and hub and thread the hub so I can put locator bolts through the rotor and spacer.

you do know im a self proclaimed s10 brake swap expert? i machine hubs and brackets in my garage. i have only done one c4hd and forgot most of the details, and never made drawings like i did for the c5, ls1 and hybrid setups (see brake subforum).  and oh yea, im about 10 miles from you, 2 miles east of ironwood(tomahawk) just off the 60.

if i recall, i made mine out of 3/8" and everything fit well. in my travels i have also learned there is huge variation between spindles as far as the dustshield bolt hole height relationship to the rest of the spindle.

this is of couse assuming you are using modified truck spindles and not blazer spindles....?

i also have a nice pair of freshly painted zq8 spings im not using that i may be convinced to part with.

I didn't know you were so close! I got some pictures of the issue, I'll get them up later. What kind of motivation might you need to part with those leaves?

im assumed you meant coils, sry, i dont have any leaves. having said that, im of the opinion that removing the 3rd leaf from a standard pack approximates the zq8 spring rate and ride height. its dam near free to try too.

Went to Tucson and picked up the leaves today, hopefully will get to do some work on the rear leaves this weekend, see where I sit with the ZQ8 leaves and flipped front hangers and I can go from there.

Here are pics of the brake issues I'm having, hopefully someone can figure out if I've done something wrong of if I'm stuck with a spacer behind the rotor.

here is one possible solution.

the c4 hd is 2.2" tall

the c5 is basically the same except its 12.8 instead of 13", but its only 1.8" tall which would give you a little more than 3/8". depedning on how the c4s fit, you may have a little pad overhang with the c5 rotor, but i would guess there is room to spare and that wont be an issue.

i have 2 new c5 rotors in the garage you can borrow to test fit if you want. i would even sell them to ya if they work out.

I'd bet that's exactly what it is, son of a bitch, I got the wrong hubs. If I can borrow one of them to mock-up and check wheel clearance I would be much obliged. If they clear I'll just do full C5 kit on it I guess. PM me with what your schedule is like and we'll make something work. I work nights monday through thursday with morning obligations, but maybe we can meet up next weekend. Unless there is almost a quarter inch of pad overhang like there may be with this bracket. If that does end up being the case, I'm going to ebay all the damn parts and start over, I'm kind of liking the sound of C6 Z06 rotors with regular two piston calipers, eh? Lol

im pretty sure there is only one hub, so i dont think thats your issue. bring a hub over too and we will compare the dimensions to one of mine. i work tuesday-sat, im home by 4, off sun-mon. home all day today.

those z51s should work with what you have, youll just need the z51 abutment brackets.

FEB does make multiple different hubs, the one I got is called c4/c5/c however he does have a c4 specific hub.
