I read everyone elses threads and kinda feel like I am in the wrong place!lol.Yall are building all the really cool suspensions, and all I want is to do make power and get it to the ground,in a straight line!ANYWAY, here is a list of what I have gathered up for my engine so far.All this is for the '98 engine.
Rocker arms

Push rods

Lifters

Springs

Retainers

Rocker arm studs

Intake valves

Exhaust valves

Intake manifold

Locks are coming from Jason.
Since these are Vortec heads, the only port work I intend to do to them is port match them.

Ok,well,UPS finally pulled their heads out of their asses and delivered my rocker arms, valves, and intake. Now I need the time to get the port matching done then find some place to get them built.Still undecided on the cam.

No and that's like the 4.3 crank. That's the even fire, odd fire is the good crank. Tried looking on egay but it so fucking slow today I couldn't take it.

Yeah but it's $ check out sy/ty and see what you think. IMO the 4.3 won't scream for long with the even fire.

That is one of the things about this engine I am really not thrilled with,I've had big blocks that would turn more rpm's than this little v6.I had a 383magnum that would turn 8-9grand.I really don't think getting a v6 to turn 7+grand is asking to much,is it?

Yes I'm a member but god only knows how long it's been since I logged in.

As far as RPM, stock crank I see 5,500 tops. Told you that's why I want LSx. Can't afford 4.3

I thought so too, specially for a billet crank, even used I think it is worth the money.Next week I'm getting the camaro brakes from Jason. If it is there in 2 weeks I may get it.I keep asking myself just what I expect to get out of this as far as hp is concerned and I keep getting the same answer IDK ! I know what I want,I just don't know if this engine is capable of giving it w/o forced induction and or sprayed.I did find an intake for a 471 blower set up.

That little 471 is a sweet setup. I saw an old guy with one and couldn't tell it was a 6 at first. It was pretty neat.

A friend of mine and I were talking about that at one time and I just happened across the intake for one the other night while searching for an intake before I ordered the 2114.I think I am about to the point that I am going to just say fuck it and do a ring and bearing freshen up on the lower end with the cam swap and the balance shaft gear delete, run that engine for a little while and I have a friend with a Samurai that wants my 4.3.Trade him the 4.3 for a complete 454 truck that is wrecked,it is a 98-99 I think.

By Sat. all the parts for my heads will be here, other than the valve stem seals.Just got email from summit saying my retainers shipped yesterday.Thbox from chi town arrived yesterday so my locks are here, gotta go buy a lower intake set and some header gaskets for the '98 and some machinist blue and start working on the ports,if I ever get some free time. One of the Mexicans on my crew at night has an '87 2dr w/ a 2.9 I am trying to buy, offered him 500$ for it sight unseen. He's thinking it over. How high should I go before I tell him to fuck off?Says it runs good and the ac works, told him I did not care,I was going to chop it up any way and throw the ac away.Thinhk i could be luck enough to get 3:73's in that?

It depends on what kind of shape it's in. You made an offer, stick to it is my best advice.

Well I gave him what he has in it 800$.It didn't really matter I wanted a 1st gen 2dr.New rad and brake booster(that I am going to take out).a/c works good( he says),all the power windows work,n/a 2.9 auto. This is perfect for what I intend to build, now I don't have to worry about redoing the wiring because of the computer and all the sensors and crap.If my plan is right the only computer in there will be the controller for the Holley Projection.Should be pretty much a drop in deal.Suggestions for motor mounts?

What's going in, a 4.3 or 454? If you're doing the BBC the SBC mounts will work (stealth.. JTR's) IMO, but only if stock cast manifolds are used. Otherwise... get ready to be creative.
