Any advice on the parts to buy and do a drop the right way would be appreciated, about all I really know about dropping it is spindles, springs, shocks, and blocks.Since I will be there I want to rebuild the front end, bottom to top,as I said, any and all advice is appreciated, suspensions are kind of like physics to me,I don't know jack shit about either!
If you are rebuilding the front end might as well do the tall balljoint swap and drop spindles. That would bring it down 2 1/2" up front.

There are a few way to go about it.
1)UB Machine upper control arms, C10 upper ball joints (FA903 is the part number for McQuay-Norris and Duralast) and HOWE or Power Performance tall lower ball joints. This would be the least expensive combo. This is the swap on my truck and it came to about $220 or so.

2)SPC upper control arms with PP tall upper and lower balljoints. The arms are more expensive but are a lot nicer.

3)SPC uppers and HOWE balljonts. All top of the line parts and the balljoints are rebuildable. Might not want to pary $85+ per balljoint.

SPC arms and HOWE balljoints from here (Marcus gives a military discount):
http://www.scandc.com/products.htm
Power Performance ball joints:
http://www.powerperformancemotorsports.com/category.sc;jsessionid=E085B8694A4BC0D1D72B6703CE61C926.qscstrfrnt02?categoryId=29
UB machine:
http://www.ubmachine.com/
Now UBM will be a bit of a pain since you have to talk to them. Ask for Tony and tell him you want the metric chassis tall balljoint swap upper control arms that use the C10 balljoint. Mention Michel Crawford and or Eric Howell when you call. Mine were $127 shipped to give you an idea of price but they were only the second set so the price may have changed.

Rear you could use blocks, ZQ8 springs (not sure how much they give on 1st gen) or drop springs.
I like the spc arms, now which ones I am completely stupid on body styles. The ones for Camaro/Firebird?

G body but he knows...
Expect to be on the phone a while. If you can't get a hold of him keep trying. It's pretty much a one man shop.

These are the standard arms (steel)

And then you have Pro Lite arms (aluminum)

When Josh (stealthsuper on s10p) bought his stuff Marcus at SC&C gave him a free upgrade to the pro lite arms because of the military. He also gave him additional discounts. Make sure you tell him. At least someone in this country gives back to the men and women that serve our country.

I figured that they were just didn't think to ask.I assume they are greasable, stupid question I know, but you never know.I think I am going to go to pp anget the whole 11/16 upgrade kit.Do you know anything about the belltech lowering bj's?I saw them advertised on one of the shock boxes and was just curious.

Yup, greasable.
The ball joint's wouldn't apply to the s10. Those are probably just flipped ball joints for the trucks that have the lowers pointed down.

It really pisses me off when I see all the cool stuff you guys are doing because I live/work in a fab shop and have access to every thing to do all that stuff, yet,If I start a project it has to be completed right then,I cant take it apart and have the space to leave it taken apart and work on it,like Redemption and Feel the Luv(my favorite)!I can do all that, but I cant build a whole fuckin truck in a night! It is quit depressing at times!

Reminds me of when I lived in an apartment.
Couldn't you buy a spare frame to build on? Then you could just roll it outside to get it out of the way.

I feel your pain oddball. Before I got my beater, I'd have to do entire projects over night or on the weekends.

Ok,well,I got a shit load of parts and no time to do anything with them.I did manage to get the ds door with the broken hinge changed, after a second trip to the parts house to get the right hinge pins and bushings. My buddy Charles came over anwe swapped the ds door off of the '93 4dr to the 87 2dr,nothing major, but a start.hopefully in the next few days,Ican get the fropnt clip swapped from the 4dr to the 2dr.When I do the interior I will swap out the dash and parts of the wiring harness to run the pwr mirrors. There will be lot of mixing and matching of parts! The pwr mirrors look so much nicer.pics

Here was the problem with the door.

Did you have to make the door "fit"?

Nope.Once we got the correct bushings and pins it went right on.Got one more piece changed,it still needs a little adjusting.

I put a 3/3 drop on the blazer this weekend.Front was 1" springs,2" spindles and Belltech Nitrodrop2 shocks.Rear, nothing special,3" blocks, and again,Belltech Nitro drop2 shocks.I hope the springs up front settle some I still have more wheel well gap than I would like.I may be because of the 2.8 and not the 4.3 being up there.Had rubbing issues up front, swapped the 235/75 r15's for the 225/70 r15's off the 93.it's a temporary fix till I get the spacers and tires for my c5's.Now I know how tall a tire I can run w/o clearance problems. Here is a link to the photobucket album, feel free to leave comments/suggestions/constructive criticism, but please don't don't put any shit in my album.
