My new (came off my crate LS1 for the Avalanche) and newly powder coated valve covers. pictures make them look very dark, looks like a hazy chrome in person.

Nice project - I'm really interested to see how the truck arms work out.

i know im a couple days late on this, but, If you are going to go ape shit on this, take your core support out and fab up a 1" x 1" square tubing core support. I did this in an afternoon (with the help of my brother, the fabricator). We took out the old core support and cut off the few tabs we thought would be too hard to fab up Like the headlight buckets and upper fender mounts. From my old core support to my new one, we saved almost over 60lbs. It also looks pimp too. I wasn't into the forums back then, but I'll see if i have some pics of the process. I'm sure there is more than one way to go at it, but with rad mounts from a catalog and a little imagination it turned out solid.

I got the 1x1 1/8" wall tubing from the crate of a new machine we got at work.

You could go aluminum tube too and save another chunk of weight. It's on the list for my blazer, fabbed aluminum tube while I have the stock frame and just a radiator support integrated to the cage when I go one piece fiberglass clip with the custom frame.

good point. never even considered that idea.
how do you clip the grill in though? with my recessed radiator the grill keeps popping out, so i might as well make an aluminum one
my blazer is cooler than your s10

60 lbs?  I don't think the core support weighs that much from the factory, but yes that will save you some weight and give a fancier looking core support.

Plan to use new fenders has been scrubbed, they fit like crud! body lines are way off. So the S10 is now sporting Blazer doors and fenders.

Found a master cylinder to fit my booster that has the lines exiting the left side of the cylinder (stock unit exits on right side)

Centric Parts 130.66044 $41.19 brand new on Amazon.com  ;D Deleting the ABS for now on the S10 and using a Wilwood Proportioning Valve from Summit Racing. Depending on how the truck drives I do have all the harnesses and parts to install the stock ABS.

I can't stand ABS. The pulsing drives me nuts and then guessing when it will come on and when it won't makes life interesting. I'd rather drive without it and if I lock them, it's my own fault, not the trucks.

Today after some cutting and grinding to the left steering knuckle and lower control arm, the S10 will now steer, or so I thought. Full lock right- Check Full lock left? Nope! inner tie rod hits the skid plate. Checked and re checked, other than cutting or modifying the skid plate I am not sure what to do.

Today I also started doing some of the under hood wiring, all the spit loom is dry rotted and brittle so new split loom has been added.

Amazon sent me a brake hose instead of my master cylinder, really hoped to have the front brake lines ran this weekend.

Today I remember why I hate body work, it took over an hour to get everything lined up enough for the hood to close. Tomorrow the windshield is getting put in and I rolled the truck out to turn it around and make it easier to access for the window guy.

There is a pretty big rake to the suspension height, can't wait to get the engine, transmission, and driveshaft installed so the work on the rear suspension can get started!

Lots of progress has been made since it looked like this on 7/24!

Tires are big, but they do look good in person. With the spring rate there will be very little suspension travel so there should be no interference issues. Considering the side wall height it should still ride decent.

2004 Avalanche w/LS1 is my DD  ;D spent the last 5 years or so extensively modding it and ran out of stuff to do to it. Its great to have a project like this that does not need to be driving again by Monday morning.

your tie-rod assembly is on backwards... flip the centrelink around so it curves toward the frame, and put the outer tie-rods on the opposite side (between centrelink and frame) that's why it's hitting your skid plate

sorry, flip inner tie-rods. the outer should be 90 degree's from the inner.

Can you post a picture? The way I have it is the only way it will fit together.

Here is some pictures of the headers from CPW, cell pictures make them look much better...trust me they look much worse in person. All of the tubes have welding splatter. Pretty disapointed in these.

Collector 1

Collector 2

Nowhere in the ads does it say anything about "finishing work" all of the headers I have bought for other projects have been clean and smooth. These headers literally look like they were home made by a first timer.

I think he's trying to say you need to mount the inner tie rods between the crossmember and the center link.
